Underwater cleanup

Join us in celebrating World Environment Day through concrete action.

Oceanum Liberandum invites you to take part in the fourth edition of our Underwater Clean-Up, taking place in Sesimbra – one of the most symbolic places in our connection to the sea and the protection of marine ecosystems.

This year, the event carries even greater significance: our association was officially invited by the United Nations and the Government of South Korea to organise an underwater clean-up in Portugal, as part of the official World Environment Day celebrations, taking place in Jeju, South Korea. This is both an honour and international recognition of the work we have been developing in defence of the ocean.

The clean-up in Sesimbra will be Portugal’s official contribution to this global movement, reaffirming our active commitment to protecting the environment, especially the marine environment.

Who can participate? Everyone. Certified divers must register directly with the diving centres partnering in this initiative. Volunteers on land just need to send us an email or a direct message through our social media to confirm participation.

More than just a clean-up, this is an opportunity for unity, environmental responsibility, and real impact. Together, we’ll show that Portugal is at the forefront of ocean protection, and that local actions can have global resonance.

We would like to thank all our partners and supporting organisations who are joining this mission and helping to make this initiative possible.

The ocean needs you. Join us and be part of this change.
